Summary
A research faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Medicine seeks a full-time Database Analyst / Programmer Intermediate to join interdisciplinary research teams including physicians, statisticians, social scientists, and health services researchers.
We are seeking a master-level analyst/statistical programmer with experience in managing and analyzing large longitudinal data for health outcomes research. Research experience with large data management and analyses data are preferred. The analyst will work under the supervision of a research faculty member (Ph.D.). Independent problem-solving skills are not required for this job, but the analyst must understand both database and research complexities. We support and encourage opportunities for the analyst to participate in ongoing training, collaborative research meetings, advanced methods workshops, and papers.

Responsibilities*
This position involves survey data management and statistical analysis using multiple household survey data -- Health and Retirement Study (HRS). It also uses administrative data such as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) data. Specifically, the position involves the following responsibilities:
Managing and analyzing nationally representative household data and administrative health and healthcare data
Mapping and visualizing geographic contextual data
Preparing and maintaining technical documentation of data management and analysis files
Summarizing, interpreting, and presenting results in written, tabular, and visual formats
Assisting in creating progress reports for the project sponsor
Assisting in the writing and reviewing of manuscripts and grant proposals
Participating as a team member in discussions on data collection, management, and analysis
Training undergraduate research assistants in data collection and management
Required Qualifications*
Masters degree in public health, health services research, statistics, or related fields.
Ability to do data management and conduct analysis based on study design under supervisors guidance
Working knowledge of concepts and methods in health and health behaviors, epidemiology, and statistics
Confidence in working with data structures and linkages between data sources
At least one year of practical experience with programming using STATA or other comparable statistical software (e.g., SAS)
Some experience with spatial data (e.g., mapping)
Excellent communication, both oral and written in the English language
Ability to prioritize, organize, and efficiently work on multiple databases at the same time
Desired Qualifications*
3 years or more of experience in data management and statistical analysis using large household survey data, in particular, HRS and CMS data
Experience in working with restricted data in a secure computational environment (e.g., Secure Data Enclave)
Background Screening
