About the Role
Global Data Infrastructure and Strategy (DI&S) within Uber's customer support business (aka Community Operation) is responsible for making Uber customer support data available for reporting and analytics. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Strategy and Architecture Lead to play a pivotal role in transforming data foundation and architecture for Community Operation. As the lead, you will be responsible for defining and executing our data infrastructure and strategy, overseeing the development of data architecture, and ensuring alignment with analytics and business objectives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data literacy, design scalable data pipelines, and implement best practices to unlock the full potential of our data assets. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in data infrastructure, strategy, architecture, and a proven track record of translating complex business needs into actionable data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Understand Uber's data infrastructure, platform, solution and tool to be able to develop right data strategy and design effective data solution to maximize impact of Uber-wide tooling to create/manage/use data assetsCollaborate with stakeholders to identify data requirements, design data models, and work with data engineer to improve data pipelines for product and program analyticsProvide best practice guidance and hands-on help to analysts to design and develop standard data pipelines that meet our standardDevelop and execute a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the CommOps data and analytics vision and objectivesLead the design of a robust data architecture that guides data modeling, integration, processing and delivery standards enabling modern data product developmentDefine and design data observability and data quality standards to ensure data consistency and accuracyDevelop best practice guidelines for all areas of data management and enable analysts and engineers to take advantage of the guideStay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data architecture and solution
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Information Technology or related field7+ years experience in data strategy, data architecture & modeling, data solution design, data engineering or similar roleBasic proficiency with advanced SQL queriesExperience in data management, ETL pipeline design and development on Hadoop/Hive and Spark based technologiesStrong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications
Hands on experience designing solution architectures / blueprints for large scale data platformsProven experience as a data strategist or architect, preferably in a leadership roleStrong hands-on experience in data management, data warehousing, and data modelingExcellent problem solving experience in large scale complex data warehousing environmentExperience with Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Presto and YARNHands on experience coding data pipeline using Python scriptingExperience with Airflow or similar data pipeline orchestration toolExperience with dimensional modeling on Hive or similar open source databaseUnderstanding of distributed data and storage systems and processingProven experience working in cross-functional highly matrix environments with good collaboration and communication skillsCandidates with the love of solving complex large scale data challenges with a go-getter mentality are highly preferredExperience working in customer centric organizations
About the Team
Community Operations (CommOps) is the voice and face of Uber, and its largest org (10k+ employees). We work across the platform (Rides, Eats, Direct, U4B, Freight and more) and are responsible for customer support, social media, sales / conversion, and safety response. We are also the Voice of the Customer to the Tech/Ops teams.
The Data Infrastructure and Strategy (DI&S) team is the central Analytics and Insights (A&I) team and responsible for building the global data foundation for all reporting and analytics for CommOps. Our projects are typically broad in scope, which means there is tremendous opportunity to make a huge impact on the business. This role provides an opportunity to play a leadership role within the team and help shape the best in class customer support experience across all Uber data products and services globally.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$176,000 per year - USD$196,000 per year.
