Your role

We are looking for a hands-on Data Platform Engineer in the Group Compliance & Regulatory Governance (GCRG) Technology team to:
• develop reusable components for data engineers to use in a data lake platform in collaboration with solution architects and CTOs
• bring the latest industry best practices to aide data engineers
• collaborate on proof-of-concepts, pilots, minimum viable products, business cases and quality control
• partner with other IT teams to enable and drive deployment of other microservices
• support our microservices and product deployments in swiss and globally with our internal customers
• ensure adoption of data architecture best practices; while adhering to financial services policies and standards

Your team
You'll be working in the GCRG AI Data and Analytics IT team based in Weehawken. Our team is building a comprehensive data platform with both cloud based applications and in-house microservices that enable data patterns into the data lake. Eventually the Data Platform enable the data strategy for Reporting, Analytics, AI and Data Science platform. Our applications are integrated with other systems in UBS so it's important that in this role, you will be able to collaborate with other IT teams located across the globe.
You'll combine your technical vision, analytical, communication and leadership skills to drive the design, development and implementation of big data systems. You'll translate business requirements into the appropriate data models, processing frameworks and data workflows that can integrate disparate data sources into an enterprise data lake. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside other talented engineers, CTO, and data scientists on cutting-edge big data, search, machine learning and analytics problems.

Your expertise
• in-depth experience in managing large scale (enterprise-wide) multi-year cross functional implementation projects
• possess strong communication, presentation and engagement skills, be able to adapt, quick learner, and be able to provide technical expertise across a wide range of technology
• delivered design patterns for data platform and managing the surrounding usage of data platform through microservices (ideally 10+ years), strong architecture experience in data management practices with traditional approaches (i.e. ETL, RDBMS, data warehousing and big data)
• professional experience in Cloud managed services (such as SaaS, DBaaS and PaaS) environments, preferably in Azure.
• experience working across the full software development lifecycle on multiple enterprise scale development projects concurrently in Waterfall, Iterative, Kanban and Agile environments while delivering with DevOps, automated testing on tools used to support CI and release management.
• knowledge in the following key areas: Financial Services - Capital Markets, Regulatory Rules, and Trade Surveillance analytics, preferably in delivering applications to support Compliance & Operational Risk platform (preferable: cross border data handling). (ideally 5+ years)
• professional experience in executing and monitoring various key procedural IT risk controls in key procedural areas such as authentication, authorization, access management, software development life cycle, change & release management, platform security, network security, security monitoring, capacity management, process monitoring & incident management, IT asset management, IT disaster recovery management, record management, data security & governance, physical security and backup. (ideally 5 Years)
• experience as a lead engineer in Spark/Big Data surrounding microservices environment in a globally distributed team (preferably on Azure Databricks, Kubernetes)
• experience in monitoring solutions such as Azure Logs, AppInsights, Graphana, and other Spark monitoring tools is a plus.
