Job Responsibilities:
Data Management
Design processes for ingestion, transforming, extracting, and analyzing data across multiple platforms and sources encompassing but not limited to the entire constituent journey. Aim to enhance data integrity, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Help define and monitor procedures pertaining to the collection and coding of advancement data.
Collaborate with team members to improve and automate data feeds and produce data extracts, ensuring the accurate flow of data throughout our ecosystem.
Communicate data back to other RIT partners.
Data Quality & Governance
Build tools, routines and checklists to improve data integrity and accuracy by reconciling data discrepancies between internal databases, university partners, and external platforms and data sources.
Assist with the maintenance and accuracy of data dictionaries, data metrics and catalogs.
Create and perform data quality control checks for internal databases and provide resolution through exploratory data analysis, database comparison, and data cleansing routines.
Create and maintain robust documentation for all data standards, processes and procedures.
Technology stack and operation
Configure/Admin our main systems of records.
Assume operational responsibility for data archiving, data appends, requests and extracts in a thorough and timely manner.
Perform user acceptance testing and software/services evaluation.
Stay up-to-date with the latest tools and techniques related to his job responsibilities.
Stakeholder support
Build and maintain relationships between University Advancement and RIT Partners.
Gather user requirements and advocate for stakeholder’s business needs.
Serve as an ambassador for communicating and monitoring governance definitions.

Required Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, in an area directly involving hands-on data work.
3+ years of work experience in data-centric role with significant data querying and SQL programming exposure.
Skills, Abilities, Knowledge
Understanding of databases, data models, and extract transform & load (ETL) processes.
Must be able to work with Microsoft Excel to an advanced level.
Work experience with SQL and relational database systems is required.
Experience in querying, cleansing, manipulating, analyzing, and summarizing large data sets quickly and expertly.
Experience with text pattern matching (e.g. regular expressions) for search, replace, and extraction operations is required.
Solid analytical/logical mindset and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills (clear, concise, and confident) with the ability to manage internal and external relationships.
Apply process-oriented thinking to optimize data flow in alignment with business requirements.
Experience with regular expressions, data sampling techniques and basic statistical concepts will also benefit the Data Analyst.
Adherence to a high level of security and ethical standards when dealing with confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an advancement, fundraising, higher-education, and/or non-profit setting.
Experience with non-relational databases and CRM platforms is desirable.
Experience in conversion, upgrading and/or migrating projects are desirable.
Experience with, or ability to learn quickly about, the technology stack used by the Division of UA: MS Office, MS Azure, MS Purview, Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, enterprise automation tools, Python and VBA is strongly preferred. MS Power Automate and RPA tools are a plus.
Curiosity and openness to explore how AI tools can be leveraged to improve our operation.
Experience with user acceptance testing and developing data products.

Job Summary:
The Advancement Systems, Data, and Analytics Team makes transformation possible for the RIT community by effectively partnering with and empowering advancement stakeholders at the crossroads of strategy, systems, data, and analytics. As a critical member of this team, the Data Analyst is a data governance and data literacy champion and will be responsible for continually improving the quality, accuracy, availability, and effective use of data throughout our extensive constituent management systems and data ecosystem.
A successful Data Analyst will effectively communicate with our stakeholders to understand their data needs and take proactive measures to enhance data management across the Division, including but not limited to modeling, describing, and organizing data assets. They will also create data samples, maintain data standard definitions, monitor data quality metrics, and assess data health prior to update our system of records through meticulous interrogation and reconciliation of data from several complex data sources, spanning the constituent lifetime journey (enrollment, student, alumni, donor, parent, friend, staff, etc.) and to provide data to other RIT partners (such as Marketing, Enrollment, ITS, etc).
This position would be well served by an experienced level of SQL and advanced Excel skills, and there will be opportunities to learn and program in other languages such as Python and VBA. The ideal person in this role will be committed to continual learning about data analysis, the RIT community, and the Advancement practice. Demonstrable appreciation for diversity and a willingness to develop personal leadership traits and team relationships is highly desirable.
