Data Governance Lead (remote)
Job Description
The Role
Join our team as a Data Governance Lead and become an integral part of our Data department. We are seeking an individual with expertise in data governance management, possessing exceptional skills and experience in shaping, implementing, and maintaining data governance frameworks. Your role will be instrumental in providing invaluable business insights and data analytics, empowering decision-making across the organisation.
As the Data Governance Lead, you'll concentrate on establishing and upholding an enterprise data governance framework, ensuring adherence to data policies, standards, and practices, crucial for maintaining consistency, quality, and safeguarding data to fulfil overall business requirements.
This role reports to the Head of Data Governance and Analytics and can be 100% remote, based out of EU (as long as we have a legal entity in that country).

Focus AreasCollaborate with data owners, stewards, information security, privacy, and technology leadership teams to establish and enforce data policies, processes, and standards including data quality, security, and management conceptsDevelop and drive an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap, outlining strategic priorities for information-based capabilitiesEstablish and maintain ownership accountability of data systems and enterprise dataDefine roles and responsibilities related to data governance, ensuring clear accountability for stewardship of principal information assetsIdentify and define necessary policies and standards to effectively and efficiently carry out the roleLead and facilitate the organisation's data governance activities, crafting governance policies and partnering with business leadership within master data and business domains to implement governance modelsDevelop and maintain data catalogues, data lineage maps, and business glossaries in collaboration with stakeholdersLead the implementation of metadata standards, data governance, and stewardshipIdentify new business opportunities leveraging data assets for increased efficiency, positioning data as a valuable business assetLead efforts in aligning data sharing between the enterprise, clients, vendors, and partnersMitigate risks by monitoring enterprise performance concerning data-related goals and standards, enhancing overall valueDrive the development and implementation of data protection and data quality standards across the enterpriseDefine performance indicators, quality metrics, ensuring compliance with data-related policies, standards, roles, responsibilities, and adoption requirementsDevelop and enforce data quality metrics beyond the data warehouseProvide support for project planning and management, ensuring compliance with best practices and legal frameworks within data governancePreferred Experience & SkillsSolid experience in a data governance roleIdeally a postgraduate qualification in information management or data governanceProficiency in information management practices, including information lifecycle management, data modelling, master data management, and conducting business auditsExperience leading a data governance programGood knowledge of PowerBIProficient in data management tools and technologies i.e. SAP, CollibraNice to have - consultancy backgroundExperience with Agile concepts and JIRA ticketing is advantageousUnderstanding of principles, practices, theories, and/or methodologies associated with the professional disciplines, as outlined in Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK2) preferredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively and articulate complex ideas clearlyPersonal AttributesEmbrace the transformative nature of the role, capable of building capabilities and institutionalising best practicesProactive, self-motivated, able to work independently, and manage multiple tasks within tight deadlinesWillingness to question assumptions and challenge established normsStrong writing skills with the ability to create clear requirements, specifications, and documentationEffective communication to relay information, business processes, and system-wide changes to both technical and non-technical audiencesTeam player with superior relationship-building skills essential for collaboration across various business sectorsAdaptability in dealing with ambiguity, resourcefulness, and enterpriseJob
