Data Architect
Position Description
This position can be located 100% remotely anywhere in the U.S.
As a Data Architect at CGI Federal, you will be at the forefront of shaping our data and AI/ML strategy. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our data and machine learning infrastructure on AWS. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making and deliver AI/ML solutions that empower our client organizations.
Your future duties and responsibilities
a. Develop with Cloud Native Data Services:
• Leverage extensive experience in cloud-native data services, particularly AWS offerings such as AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS Redshift, AWS S3, AWS EMR, Tableau, Alation, and Pentaho.
• Architect and implement data solutions using these services to support diverse data processing, analytics, and reporting requirements.
b. Implement Solutions Using Star/Snowflake Schemas:
• Demonstrate proficiency in designing and deploying data models utilizing Star and Snowflake schemas for Data Warehousing.
• Apply expertise in Data Lake and Data Mesh technologies, showcasing your ability to create and maintain scalable, adaptable data storage, and processing solutions.
c. Translate Business Requirements:
• Exhibit a track record of translating intricate business requirements into detailed technical specifications, encompassing data access patterns, data streams, integrations, transformations, and robust database and data warehouse designs.
• Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions align seamlessly with business objectives.
d. Develop Proof of Concepts:
• Showcase a history of independently conceiving and executing proof of concepts (PoCs) to assess the viability of emerging data technologies, data models, or innovative data processing approaches.
• Display the ability to work autonomously, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving prowess when addressing complex data challenges.
e. Understand Predictive Modeling and Machine Learning:
• Possess knowledge and comprehension of predictive modeling and machine learning principles, including their practical application to gauge and enhance end-user experiences.
• Familiarize yourself with pertinent tools and libraries commonly employed in predictive modeling and machine learning projects.
In addition to the qualifications mentioned above, candidates for this role should also possess:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective interaction with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
• Demonstrated experience with data governance and expertise in implementing data security best practices.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and best practices.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• AWS certifications related to data and analytics, including AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, are mandatory.
• Proven track record as a Data Architect with a specialization in Microservices and AWS technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS services such as AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS Glue, AWS Redshift, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, among others.
• Strong expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other relevant programming languages.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to excel in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Due to the nature of the government contracts this position requires US Citizenship or Green Card Holder.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to: skill set level; experience and training; and licensure and certifications. CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $148,700-200,000.
