Introduction to the job
The Customs & Export Control Classification Specialist has adequate knowledge of relevant aspects of systems and processes. Processes transactions, performs independent checks, analyses discrepancies and resolves them.
Has basic insight into the related stakeholders. Acts proactively to internal customer needs, advises on 'technical' / content subjects, based on given policies. Approaches and priorities of own work will be determined independently within specified deadlines. Needs to apply a wide range of procedures and use own professional judgement to provide the right answer in differing situations.
Role and responsibilities
Determining country of origin.Handling legal control blocks (GTS).Maintaining and improve the master classification database.Function as the go to person in case of classification related questions from internal stakeholders.Stimulate and establish good working relationships at different levels with relevant departments within ASML (for example Development & Engineering.Support the classification process which may involve accessing multipleERP systems (Oracle & SAP).Provide suggestions for improvement processes.
Education and experienceBachelor's degree or equivalent experience.3+ years relevant experience in Customs & Export Controls Classification. Technical (Engineering or equivalent) experience only will also be consisted.Technical background and/or knowledge and experience with SAP and GTS preferred.
SkillsProficient in Microsoft Office applications including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment and in multi-cultural teams.Transactional knowledge of United States Government export control regulations.Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and project deadlines.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a multi-cultural work environment.Strong drive with a hands-on, structured, accurate and result oriented working style.Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and drive others, build relationships and influence other functional areas.Able to cope with a multicultural, dynamic and changing and complex environment.Good time management skills and able to manage towards tight deadlines.Show ownership of issues from start to finalization.Eye for detail, proactive and capable of making decisions.

Other information
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Working time. The ASML business requires a 24/7 support in relation to classification. This full service level will be realized by the team in the Netherlands and the US, in combination with a backup call-center team to cover the out of office hours outside the NL and US business hours. The working hours of the classification specialist will be during regular business hours, but could require incidentally to be standby during the evening or the weekend.
