The Curing Setup Technician is responsible for the setup and mold changes for Truck Tire Curing Presses. Removal and installation of all bladders. Clean and drill venting in molds. Troubleshoot all curing presses and make adjustments to have an effective production run.
Electrical or Mechanical background with the ability to use hand tools and precision measuring devices, good leadership ability, ability to troubleshoot and problem solve, excellent communications skills, basic computer knowledge, and operate various control systems. Ability to adapt in a changing environment involving computer interface.
Perform mold and bladder changes as needed.
Build and tear down bladders.
Tearing down and cleaning segmented molds, drilling
molds, and cleaning of molds in press.
Perform and adjust squeeze audits, cure cycle audits and cure temperature audits accordingly to specs.
Troubleshoot curing presses and make minor emergency adjustments.
Perform MTC, and TPM.
Ensure serial changes in molds.
Perform other duties as directed by the Truck Tire Curing Shift Supervisor, and /or Department Manager.
Cure cycle audits.
10.Follow standard practices and perform all work necessary to promptly and accurately obtain quality and quantity production.
Ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly by oral Communication, Presentation, Written Communication and PowerPoint. Needs to be able to have the ability to communicate with other setup techs, curing supervision, and curing press operators, and supplying departments.
Demonstrates the characteristics of 5S to keep work areas neat, clean, aligned, and orderly. Follow all plant policies, environmental policies, and plant and departmental safety policies. Ability to operate an overhead crane when conducting mold inspections.
Set up techs must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, crawl, climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, twist, and work above head level in extreme heat for long periods of time. Minimum lifting 50lbs and frequently carrying of 25 lbs. Work in a high heat environment. Work as needed overtime. Work around moving machinery and the ability to use hand and power tools.
Mechanical or electrical aptitude, ability to use hand tools and precision measuring devices, good leadership ability, ability to troubleshoot and problem solve, excellent communication skills and basic computer knowledge, and operate various control systems. Forklift certified.
Responsible for checking and following daily mold change schedule for removing and installing correct molds. When mold change has been completed the press must be ready to start curing the next scheduled tire. Required to check and follow daily curing bladder change schedule involving tearing down, rebuilding, removing, and reinstalling correct curing bladders. Trouble shooting curing presses, cleaning, and venting molds in press, and performing minor repairs to molds and curing press. Build and tear down bladders.
Work in CBS to support in areas where help is needed to develop the individual and team. Identify opportunities for improvement and uses soft skills to support. Makes yourself aware of the team interaction and performance. Need to work with the new Manufacturing Suite involving WPS/CGRS and TTKS. Ability to learn fast and to work well with the new Manufacturing Suite.
Actively participate in business team meetings, follow-up on efficiency and losses development, improvement of OEE/TEEP, performance goal setting and ensure the CBS approach is being applied within the cross functional business team.
Follow up on correct application of standards with production and support development of Standard operating procedures.
Conduct improvement workshops on the shop floor with production and any other stakeholders within the area of responsibility.
Ensure the implementation of standards according to CBS and ensure that the CBS tools are being applied correctly.
Participate as a champion for the area of responsibility for an area wide initiative such as 5's or TPM.
Actively participate in the CBT coaching reviews of level 1 teams and assist the level 1 teams in achieving the defined targets and realizing the innovations coming from the level 1 team.
Must be currently working within the Continental Facility
Basic Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of related work experience in manufacturing
• Experience in Robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics
• Experience with industrial automation equipment
• Willing to work 12-hour rotational shift
• Ability to work in cross cultural settings
• Ability work in a challenging start up environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate degree or equivalent education and experience in related field
• Experience in Tire Manufacturing
• Forklift driver certification
Physical Requirements
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach, twist, climb, frequently.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 75lbs. frequently
