JOB REQUIREMENTS: POSITION SPECIFICS Title: CRNA FTE: 1.0 FTE (40hours/week) Schedule: Variable Holiday Rotation: Per unit requirementsOn Call Requirements: Every 10th day and every 10th weekend POSITIONSUMMARY Responsible for providing anesthesia services by administeringanesthetic agents/drugs and/or related procedures in order to facilitatediagnostic, therapeutic or surgical procedures. May include laboranalgesia, acute/chronic pain management, respiratory consultation andsupport, and intervention during emergency situations in addition torendering patients insensible to pain during surgery procedures.POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Perform a pre-anestheticassessment of patient; order pre-op fluids or medications; obtaininformed consent; and document findings. 2. Develop an anesthetic planof care tailored to each patient. 3. Implement planned anesthetic planfor surgery patients (regional, general, IV sedation, etc.). 4. Managefluid therapy and drug therapy to maintain physiological homeostasis andto correct abnormal responses to anesthesia/surgery. 5. Select, apply,and interpret non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities. 6. Managepatients\' airway and pulmonary status using advanced airway modalitiesincluding but not limited to; intubation, mechanical ventilation, drugprescription. 7. Manage emergence and recovery from anesthesia,including preventing and managing complications and pain relief. 8.Release patients from post-anesthesia recovery and provide follow-upevaluation 9. Plan, implement and evaluate pain relief therapy includingpost-op and labor analgesia. 10. Respond to emergency situations withairway management and other ACLS techniques. 11. Provide in-serviceeducation to other staff regarding anesthesia techniques and procedures.12. Demonstrates effective communication skills with coworkers,physicians, patients and patients\' family members. 13. Adheres toSurgery Department Code of Ethics as it pertains to other team members.14. Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.15. Treats all patients equally, with compassion and without regard tomedical condition, social status, or race. 16. Protects patients\'rights, including maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitiveinformation about patients and others. 17. Participates in continuingeducation through in-services and other programs. POSITION REQUIREMENTSEducation: Required: Bachelor\'s Degree in Nursing (Master\'s Degree ifgraduated after 1997) Preferred: None Experience: Required: 2 years ofcritical care nursing experience. Preferred: None Licenses andRegistrations: Required: State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse andAdvanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license. Registration with DrugEnforcement Administration (DEA) within 3 months of hire. Preferred:None Certification(s): Required: Basic Life Support (within 3 months ofhire), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with 6 months of hire, andNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) with 1 year of hire.
