Job Description With the UK and Continental European economy facing potentially one of its toughest years, it’s now more important than ever that Visa Europe manages its credit and settlement risk effectively. As a result, the Visa Europe Credit & Settlement Risk (CSR) team, who have accountability for the 2nd line of defence, have a brand-new role senior role available to proactively manage and mitigate credit and settlement risk for Visa Europe.
This role requires you to be a subject matter expert on credit analysis for corporates and/or financial institutions including a good understanding and knowledge of credit rating models, their application and use. Key to the role will be the ability to manage a portfolio of clients prioritising where required, managing difficult conversations, including escalations, all whilst ensuring adherence to the Global CSR framework and procedures. You will need to use a variety of Visa systems and proactively interpret and apply your expertise to mitigating risk while striking the appropriate risk versus reward balance. You will also support the CSR Director with ongoing projects representing CSR where required.
The role will require maintaining a strong relationship and partnering with the UK and Europe Account Executives and Country Managers as well as the other global regional CSR teams.
What we expect of you, day to day
Adhering to the CSR Framework, procedures, policy standards and controls.Accountable in managing the credit and settlement risk for a portfolio of clients based in Europe:Ensuring all clients have up to date credit ratings, annual credit assessments are completed by the required deadlines set and credit ratings are reviewed proactively where pertinent new information becomes available such as external rating downgrades, mergers, financial difficulties, industry / country issues.Portfolio management including watch lists, country credit ratings, client and industry monitoring, deep dive analysis, scenario and stress testingCollateral management and controlsEnsuring clients, as set out in the Global CSR framework and controls, have appropriate collateral (security) in place to mitigate any potential losses.Ensuring any waivers relating to collateral requirements are managed and in place supporting business growth, working with the relevant business accountable executives on a path to migrate clients off the waiverReleasing collateral to clients as requiredManaging the control environment in line with risk appetite and conditions for specific clientsEnsuring all collateral documentation is in place working closely with the CSR Collateral Analysts and Legal teamClient EngagementLead engagement with high exposure/risk clients on issues including but not limited collateral requirements, new additional requests, etc.Clients in distressLead / support the risk mitigation activity where clients are in distress. This includes bankruptcies, managed winddowns, re-structures and credit deteriorationLead and/or support the CSR Director and CSR Strategy and Engagement Director on CSR projects as requiredDevelop and enhance a data analytic approach to credit & settlement risk utilising VISA systems and tools with the purpose and focus of improving processes, becoming more effective and providing better insights to actively make better risk management decisionsSupporting Regulatory and Internal Audit requirementsSupporting the Head of CSR as appropriate including representing the Financial Risk function with internal and external stakeholdersAny other ad hoc duties as required by the CSR Senior Leadership Team.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications A minimum of five years experience as a credit manager/senior credit manager working in a financial or payments institutionAn excellent understanding of a credit framework and controls environment including the application of the framework in a financial or payments institutionExtensive experience in working with various stakeholders and managing difficult conversationsDemonstrable time management and prioritisation skillsDemonstrable ability to use credit data and provide insightful analytics to better manage riskKnowledge, understanding and experience of risk management practices in financial services.Through knowledge of the UK and wider European payments and / or financial services industry and the major trends affecting key stakeholders, including the regulatory, political and market environment, payment products and services, economic and competitive landscape, technology, and the rising threat of data breachesKnowledge and experience of Visa Europe payment system, its governance principles, and Visa Europe's compliance framework Additional Information Visa is an EEO Employer.
