Description Robert Half is currently working with a dynamic client seeking a cost accountant. The Cost Accountant is a critical role responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also work closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team to establish customer pricing. Responsibilities
Design a cost accounting system, and manage the documents and records of the organization- Generate reports comparing production costs to standard costs and analyze manufacturing costs
Interpret data collected and record detailed results
Assemble reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
Make estimates of new and proposed product costs
Determine any changes in cost by analyzing any changes in services or goods provided
Analyze costs and recommend cost savings
Generate financial statements that comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Perform internal cost audits
Collect data and plan projects to decide costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste
Conduct variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
Assist in audits and general ledger preparation
Maintain the cycle count program and take physical inventory
Put into action a standard costing methodology for domestic plants Requirements - Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
Prior experience utilizing cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
Very detail oriented and expert analytical thinking skills
2 years of Cost Accounting work experience
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
Knowledge of organizational accounting concepts
