Description
We’re looking for a talented lawyer to support our dynamic Global Logistics (fka Global Mile) business, which operates the import and export logistics networks that serve Amazon’s customers and around the world. You’ll be embedded with the business team, working directly to improve the experiences of our customers by expanding and optimizing our cross-border fulfillment capabilities. You’ll serve as lead counsel on operational, regulatory, and commercial matters, in addition to helping shape longer term strategy and resolving issues that arise in our relationships with customers, sellers, customs authorities, and service providers worldwide. You’ll develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.
The position will be based in the Seattle area (preferred), but Washington DC or New York may also be considered. Some travel (domestic and international) may be required.

Basic Qualifications
J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar
5+ years of legal practice experience
Experience managing complex cross-border transactions
Preferred Qualifications
A mix of law firm and in-house and/or government experience working in the cross-border logistics, transportation, and/or technology sectors
Experience in representing corporate clients in commercial negotiations
Ability to work effectively and demonstrate sound judgment in fast-paced, ambiguous situations
Familiarity with international trade, customs, maritime, aviation and/or freight forwarding laws
Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
Experience learning new technologies
Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines
Ability to build rapport with and earn trust of business partners
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical and computer skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
