Description
We are looking for an experienced and motivated attorney to work on some of the most ambitious sustainability challenges on the planet. This role would support Amazon Web Services (AWS) on complex ESG due diligence, assurance, and reporting frameworks globally, and support the company as we refine our strategies for sustainability initiatives. You will work directly with the businesses you support, serving as counsel and providing strategic input on operational and value chain sustainability goals, policy, due diligence, governance, and disclosures. You will collaborate with attorneys across the globe (and throughout Amazon) to develop innovative solutions. You will provide day-to-day guidance on existing and emerging regulations, and advise on trends including in new areas of law. You will develop and improve internal policies, procedures, and capabilities, including working cross-functionally with our public policy, compliance, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility teams as well as accounting, finance, and public relations.

A day in the life
Providing advice to AWS business partners to meet regulatory and customer requirements re sustainability and ESG reporting. Assessing regulations, supporting teams in building processes and mechanisms for ensuring compliance, and influencing advocacy on emerging regulations.

Basic Qualifications
• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active membership in one state bar
• 5+ years of legal experience as a licensed attorney, with experience in counseling companies on sustainability, ESG reporting and/or corporate, securities and governance matters
Preferred Qualifications
• A mix of law firm and in-house experience with large, multinational, complex companies advising on ESG and sustainability reporting;
• Experience working with regulators and public policy experts on proposed legislation and regulations;
• Hands-on project management experience, including excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage and prioritize a large number of projects and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively partner with business stakeholders
• Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
• Great business judgment, even in ambiguous situations
• Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment
• Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to global, cross-functional teams.
