What you'll do:
Eaton's Electrical Sector is currently seeking two (2) Manufacturing Engineer Co-Ops to join our team. This position is based at our Richmond VA facility.
Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer Co-ops will be responsible for one of two manufacturing engineering projects dedicated to work instructions or in-process inspections and test data management, in addition to other duties as assigned. The manufacturing engineering function is responsible for creating cycles of improvement throughout the organization by leading capital deployment, continuous improvement / cost-out projects, and other operations excellence initiatives.

In this function you will:
• Lead and report on one of two projects:
Manufacturing Work Instructions:
o The Richmond plants lack robust manufacturing documentation for shop floor employees. This documentation is critical for ensuring the plant is producing a consistent product that conform to all applicable safety, quality, and statutory regulations. The scope of this project will be to identify all tasks that are missing manufacturing documentation, work with operations and engineering to create new documentation packages, then deploy the information to the shop floor. Richmond is also investigating to use of augmented reality tools for training applications, specifically the Microsoft Holo Lense 2. The project leader will review the capabilities of the Holo Lense and prepare a report for how this technology can be used at Richmond.
In-process Inspections and Test Data Management
o The Richmond plants support data center customers who have very high standards for product quality. The demands of these customers have created the need for Richmond to improve its in-process quality inspections. Additionally, Richmond lacks a standardized tool for capturing in-process quality inspection and final test data. Eaton has an application for test data management called PCaT however implementation of this software is complex and will require coordination with quality, engineering, and IT. The scope of this project will include the creation of new in-process inspections to support data center customers as well as the implementation of the Eaton test data management system (PCaT).

Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an engineering discipline at an accredited education institutional institution (college or university).
• Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA or higher.
• Relocation is not provided for this role, the candidate must be located within 50 miles of Richmond, VA.
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
• AutoCAD system experience and required working knowledge and experience with computers preferred.
• Experience with MRP systems (SAP).
• Strong coaching and facilitation skills.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
• Experience with Microsoft Project.
Position Criteria:
• Knowledge of a wide variety of manufacturing processes including assembly and pull systems.
• Technical understanding and experience with Lean Manufacturing Systems and Six Sigma methodology.
• Ability to think strategically and see big picture in dynamic business environment.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment; to communicate articulately and professionally across many organizational levels and functions.
• Highly motivated, works with a sense of urgency, driven to add value and deliver results.
