Required Skills (Technical Competency):
As the Modeling Engineer, you will focus on the further development and improvement of component and sub - system models, and their application in the development of system models for new unit, aftermarket and services applications. As a Modeling Engineer, you will partner with engineers in systems, controls, operability, accessories, and component design teams, to understand modeling requirements of systems and execute on the development of those models. Essential Responsibilities:
As a Modeling Engineer, you will:
Design and develop new power systems models to meet documented requirements for Simple Cycle & Combined Cycle Power Plant Components product line
Collect and document modeling requirements for system models supporting controls, operability, and asset designs
Develop electrical system models, their application in operability studies, and the interpretation of results
Develop and execute sub - system and system validation test plans
Perform dynamic simulations and transient operability simulation studies
Leverage field test data to validate and tune models of the assets
Responsibly document designs and procedures used in development and validation processes
Support new factory equipment tests and field validation for first article models
Desired Skills:
Minimum of 5 years of post - bachelors engineering experience
Educational background in control theory, thermodynamics, heat & mass transfer, turbine performance, electrical machines, and power system stability analysis
Working understanding of tools used for complete control system simulation including Mark VI/VIe controls, virtual control technology, Matlab / Simulink, Easy5, HYSYS, Cimplicity, UNITY, Gatecycle/Ebsilon/Alpro
Knowledge of design and operation of power plant systems and chemical processes
Working knowledge of control theory and practical applications
Experience modeling complex systems for real - time simulation
Demonstrated ability to be effective in a customer service / ready to serve role
Highly - motivated, energetic, confident, self-starting personal characteristics
Able to accomplish tasks without supervision, communicate effectively and take ownership of assigned projects
Strong analytical approach to problem solving
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to succeed in a global team environment
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university. Masters degree desiredELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability and willingness to travel to customer sitesPhysical Requirements & Work Environment:
Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement.
Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.
Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures.
Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early.
Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PM
Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
