This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. Key responsibilities
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation Requirements - Proven knowledge of Manufacturing Cost Accounting
Comprehensive knowledge of Controllership
Proficiency in Accounting Functions
Wide ranging experience with Financial compliance
Practical knowledge of Financial Statement
General familiarity with Prepare Annual Budgets
Quality experience with financial statement preparation
Foundational knowledge in Treasury Management
Well-founded grasp of Financial Forecast
Finance experience required
Earlier work involving financial analysis
Cost accounting experience
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Strong communication and social skills
CPA or MBA preferred
Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
