Description:
The Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
The Controller supervises additional accounting department employees and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Controller will support management with cost analysis for sold products and departments based on collected data.
Responsibilities:
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the timely financial reporting and general ledger structure including accounts payable and receivable.
Actively overviews accounts receivables and informs about DSO and overdue accounts.
Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end financial closure.
Analyzes the financial reports, reports deviations to budget, provides management with departmental and product costing data either through ERP/MRP activities or via manual calculations.
Possess full knowledge of ERP system elements as it applies to all Finance and Inventory related details.
Ensure the daily and monthly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
Lead all Federal and State Tax inquiry and provide relevant supporting documentation during any subsequent audit activity.
Have all activities professionally documented and filed to satisfy any future audit request.
Supports and compiles semi-annual budget and forecasting activities.
Leads and collaborates with the other finance department members to support overall department goals and objectives.
Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Advises and trains staff regarding the handling of routine and non-routine reporting transactions.
Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
Responds to inquiries from the CEO regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager
5+ years of experience with GAAP, financial reporting & GL
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
ERP experience; manufacturing software experience preferred
Excel- Advanced Excel pivot tables, vlookups
