Description Robert Half is looking for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected services company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. Key responsibilities
Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques Requirements - Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
CPA/MBA preferred
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
General Ledger System experience required
Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger
Strong familiarity with month end closings
Proven knowledge of financial auditing
Experience with auditing
Foundational knowledge in Annual Tax
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
