Job Description:
The Control Effectiveness Sr. Manager is needed to lead the implementation of and enhancement of the global self-testing program for Mars Global Services (MGS). The MGS self-testing program is a critical component of the MGS control environment and this function plays a key role in providing leadership with essential insights into the effectiveness and performance of financial internal controls (ICE) across MGS' service lines (e.g., Finance, Commercial, P&O, etc.), along with taking corrective action to correct issues as they arise and increasing governance & control awareness within the MGS organization to improve overall control execution.
Continuously improves efficiency of testing process, leverage automation and digital where possible (for both testing by implementing CCM in addition to the manual testing process of controls and reporting), extend coverage of samples tested across more controls and company codes and ensures that it is as touchless process for the Operational teams as possible.
The role collaborates with the GFCT (Global Financial Controls Team), GPOs, Segment Controllership, BPO partners and with Internal/External auditors as needed. The role reports to the MGS Global controller and is based in the US.
What are we looking for?
University Degree in accounting required5+ years of auditor certification, with control/audit expertise of SOX environment(s) required. (Financial Auditor qualification and expertise in global FMCG companies)CPA/CIA required or equivalent professional accounting qualification8 years of progressively responsible accounting and controls experience, especially related to building/assessing control environments, implementing control rationalization plans, designing and implementing controlsExperience with financial statement reporting obligations, including an understanding of US GAAP, US GAAS, regulatory requirements, and internal controlsDemonstrated leader able to coordinate and manage multiple groups in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial resultsStrong policy, process, and control-orientation and experience with the ability to drive standardizationStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to drive change and continuous improvementAbility to influence new ways of working and change initiatives at all levels in the organization through strong leadership and building collaborative relationshipsProven track record of change managing control environment on a global scale
What will be your key responsibilities?
Enhance and implement self-testing process to drive quick, fact-based, clear communication of self-testing results and observations to the Ops teams/control owners and relevant MGS controllership teams, including proposed corrective actions.Review and maintain test scripts and implement categorization of risk rated testing attributes and define supporting documentation required.Leverage AI to significantly expand coverage of tested samples.Collaborate with GFCT and MGSF controller to implement CCM (Continuous Control Monitoring).Create automatic reporting of test result, with analysis of trends, highlighting great performance, repeat failures, identify control performance deterioration, establish targets/benchmarks.Provide update on control execution effectiveness periodically to Service Line VPs, MGS CFO, GFCT.Help identify what training is needed for control owners & help MGS controllership relevant teams to prepare materials for it based on testing results.Support internal and external audit as needed with reports from self-testingManages a team of 3rd party financial control testers (based in India), enables their efficiency, effectiveness, and engagement.This position requires work across multiple countries and boundaries.The role requires close working relationships with different stakeholders, including MGS Controllership, internal/external auditors.This role must effectively influence prioritization of issue resolution and modification of Mars policies, control DTPs where required
