As a Contracts Specialist, you will be a key member of our growing Legal team, providing internal legal support on a wide range of commercial contracts matters. Your day-to-day focus will be on supporting our commercial contracting activities, including conducting contract reviews, drafting contracts and taking part in negotiations. You may also be required to provide ad-hoc advice on related legal matters with appropriate support and to provide contracts training to our commercial teams.
You will be joining a large, friendly in-house team, with lots of support. You will work closely with other in-house lawyers across all Thermo Fisher businesses and various other functions such as R&D, Product Development, Commercial Licensing and Sales teams, IP and Procurement. We pride ourselves on providing excellent training resources and opportunities to all our Contracts Specialists.
This is a permanent contract and the role can either be fully remote (working from home), based anywhere in the UK, or hybrid (2 days office / 3 days home), based at our Inchinnan offices near Glasgow Airport. Occasional travel within the EMEA region may be required.
What will you do?
Review, draft and negotiate various commercial agreementsSupport and, where appropriate, lead negotiations with third parties and/or customers on these agreementsTake an active role in the Team's contract template standardisation, process improvement and contract automation strategy by participating in and/or leading certain relevant Team projectsConsult with other parts of the organisation on the interpretation of agreements in effect or in developmentEducate and train employees on their role in contract negotiations and their obligations under the terms of various contracts and under applicable legal requirementsWork with other members of the Global Legal team including Division Counsel as needed
Who we are looking for:
Holds a law degree in a UK jurisdiction or has at last three years' experience in a contracts-focussed role. A good working knowledge of contract lawRelevant experience in contract negotiation/draftingStrong commercial awareness and business sense, with ability to navigate the various issues surrounding contracts, technology and corporate structureAble to fully engage with and influence business partnersFluency in English essentialAble to deal effectively and efficiently with a high-volume workload
