Business Job Title: Contracts Specialist, APAC
Position Summary:
As a Contracts Specialist in the Asia-Pacific region, you will support the Clinical Trials Division of the Pharma Services Division (PSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific, by negotiating a variety of customer facing agreements APAC. Getting deals done that all parties believe are fair, durable, and lay the foundation for long term partnerships is how you will add value. In addition, you will have opportunity to be involved in business legal matters & projects handling as per business needs.
Responsibilities:
Help influence the outcome of negotiations and ensure conformity to business needs, proper risk allocation and compliance with the policies and procedures of the pharma services group.Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts/documents that arise from the day-to-day operations of pharma services group throughout China.
Be able to communicate with internal stakeholders and customers providing direction and guidance related to the contracting process.Continually strive to make the contracting process more efficient, effective, and customer centric.Follow and help improve the tools used to ensure consistency of the negotiation process and ensure maximum situational awareness for all internal stakeholders throughout the contract process to improve turnaround times to an increasing client base.Maintain and utilize the database within the contract management system of current and terminated contracts and coordinate processes to track contract flow and contractual obligations in SFDC.Serve as liaison between the client and the manufacturing sites and business units during the negotiation phase of a project.Able to work in matrixed environment to get results from disparate stakeholders including sales, finance, legal, quality, and site management/operations.Provide support to business legal team on certain legal matters/projects when needed.Other duties may be assigned by managers to meet business needs.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline (preferably in Business, Law or Life Sciences); 3+ years of demonstrated negotiation experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) highly preferred.Proficient communication skills and project management skills.Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and organizational skillsSuperior communication skills with working knowledge of MS Office ApplicationPreferably contract experience doing high value and complex agreements in the life science industry (e.g., pharma, biotech, medical device).Experience in FDA regulated industries a plus.Understanding the business and legal implications of various contract termsAble to generate creative options to overcome objections during negotiations.Able to withstand pressure from customers and internal stakeholders when following a course of action based on broader principles rather than immediate commercial need.Ability to assess needs of business and design and implement creative and durable solutions.Ability to drive outcomes in a professional and constructive manner.This role is part of global team and therefore requires flexibility as to hours as it supports various time zones and work onsite.
