Protective is seeking a critical thinker with excellent communication skills and a background in law, business, or finance to join our Reinsurance Business Group as a Contract Analyst. An attorney with experience in the insurance or financial industry could be ideal for this role. Our team works in our Birmingham office on a hybrid basis three days a week, negotiating, drafting, and analyzing business contracts to support the reinsurance function. Responsibilities: Negotiate favorable reinsurance terms with third-party reinsurers, draft associated reinsurance contracts and summaries, and lead business presentations related to such matters.Manage aspects of key reinsurance-related transactions including acquisition due diligence, acquisition integration, and negotiated settlements, as needed. Lead efforts to resolve reinsurance contract or data integrity issues, including making recommendations to resolve such issues.Identify and prioritize potential risk associated with reinsurance contract compliance, in particular as it relates to the reinsurance systems and reinsurance administration.Communicate results with management and other reinsurance stakeholders to provide greater transparency, resolve contract issues and ensure contract compliance. Query, analyze and interpret system data as it relates to compliance with reinsurance contract terms and any of the above responsibilities.
Knowledge/Experience/Education Bachelor's degree, together with 3+ years of working experience in the legal field or in a related professional environment is required;Legal degree (JD) or other applicable advanced degree is strongly preferred;Prior experience in legal negotiation and research, statutory interpretation, and contract drafting, along with the ability to distill these concepts and communicate complex or sensitive information appropriately to a business audience is strongly preferred;Experience in areas involving analysis of complex data and documents (i.e., mergers and acquisitions, financial transactions, insurance litigation or arbitration) is preferred;General knowledge of or working experience with life insurance, reinsurance, project management, and general accounting principles is preferred; Aptitude for technology, databases, and software is required. A demonstrated competency with MS Excel, SQL Server and SharePoint is strongly preferred.
Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $74,000 to $80,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance].
