What You Will Achieve
The mission for the Quality Operations Operational Excellence (OpEx) team is to 'Inspire a best-in-class culture of continuous improvement that empowers colleagues and enables processes to function efficiently and effectively'. This position is expected to support the delivery of that mission for the Rocky Mount Quality Operations (QO)organization.
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist position will report to the QO, OPEx Manager. The primary responsibilities for this role include identification, prioritization, management, and execution of CI opportunities to improve the overall effectiveness of the Tier 2/2.5 PCTs, reduce sources of loss, and meet improvement targets. You will work as a coach and a facilitator for improvement projects as well as maintain performance metrics to measure program success. This role analyzes data to drive root cause analyses and prioritize improvements. The CI Specialist is responsible for maintaining adherence to the Pfizer Integrated Manufacturing Excellence (IMEx) standards for CI supporting Quality Operations Tier 2/2.5. The specialist will support the creation of Tier 2/2.5 CI goals in alignment with site goals and may lead or coach PCT members on structured problem-solving techniques of moderate complexity.

How You Will Achieve It
Implement and sustain two or more work area level (Tier 2/2.5) CI Loop(s).
Lead Operational Excellence initiatives (i.e. 5S, M1 investigations, GB certification, etc.), develop OpEx skills of colleagues, and drive a culture of continuous improvement within the Quality Organization.
Own the CI element and work with Quality Ops leadership team to ensure a consistent and impactful application of CI loops across Quality.
Inspire a culture of continuous improvement
Develop M1 Coach ability and partner with PCT Lead to promote continuous improvement within the PCT.
Manage own time to meet agreed targets, develops plans for activities on own projects.
Input and analyze data from IMEx Elements and other work units to identify areas for improvement and largest sources of loss, including collaboration with CI Specialists across ecosystems. Collaborate with other PCT members and Element Owners to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. Utilize data to influence project prioritization.
May lead Six Sigma and Lean projects that are aligned with the site's short term and long-term goals.
Support/Perform root cause analysis for elimination of repeat performance issues/occurrences.
Facilitate the CI Loop meetings, including project prioritization and escalation. Attend daily Tier 1 meetings and facilitate real-time structured problem solving.
Lead monthly Tier 2 CI Loop meeting and T2 projects to improve the overall performance of the area.
Acts as a Change Management Agent, fostering Continuous Improvement Culture
Receive and provide Structured GEMBA on the CI Loop Element.
Work with PCT Lead, IMEx Deployment Lead, Tier 1 and 2 Element Owners, Operational Excellence, and area leadership to build, maintain, and improve IMEx within the work area.
Partner with QA colleagues, leadership, and enablers to ensure continuous improvement initiatives are identified and completed in a timely manner.
Support Method 1, 5S and PHP training.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Applicant must have a High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 8 years of relevant experience OR an Associate's degree (preferred in Engineering, Science or Technical) with 6 years of experience OR a Bachelor's degree (preferred in Engineering, Science or Technical) with at least 3 years of experience OR Master's degree (preferred in Engineering, Science or Technical) with more than 1 year of experience
Experience in Manufacturing Operations, Maintenance, Operational Excellence, or Lean Systems (pharmaceutical industry preferred)
Basic project management skills
Basic presentation skills
Basic financial skills and business acumen
Experience coaching others in structured problem-solving (M1 Coach)
Ability to apply structured problem-solving techniques to moderately complex problems.
Ability to organize data and plan for the future is key
Strong verbal and written English communications capabilities
Experience with MS Excel and ability to input data and generate charts for analysis.
Dedication for driving positive change through work.
Self-motivation and ability to work semi-independently on CI Loop tasks and utilizing problem-solving tools.
Desire to grow LEAN capabilities to further drive CI in Quality Operations and cross site.
Ability to facilitate group discussion around CI visual management board and root cause analysis meetings, including problem-solving within cross-functional team members.
Experience using root cause analysis methods.
Functional knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Office applications, particularly Excel
Nice-to-Have
A minimum of three years of experience in aseptic manufacturing/engineering in a sterile manufacturing setting
Trained in Method 1 and Pfizer Human Performance (PHP) tools or other Human Factoring Tools
Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and mentor colleagues and manage diverse relationships
Green Belt, Black Belt, and/or Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma Certificate

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $78,000.00 to $126,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10.0% of the base salary.
