SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This role is a fundamental position within the North American CI (Continuous Improvement) organization to execute lean transformation and drive business value through CI tools and methodologies across the Owensboro facility. The role will provide support, vision, coordination, and functional direction to drive and sustain focused improvements in performance utilizing lean techniques and thinking.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
This position will be an integral part of the Owensboro Mill team, reporting to the mill CI manager. This position will provide dedicated lean support to the facility and other mills as needed.
ORGANIZATION: People Responsibilities
Reporting relationship - Owensboro Mill Continuous Improvement Manager
People responsibility - Leads teams through influence and example. No direct reports.
Partnerships - Internal to Mill - Mill Management Team, all Mill Associates, Mill Support Functions
External to Mill- Change Leaders across network, supply chain and other cross functional teams within KCP.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitates, promotes, and supports lean cultural development, including:
Executes focused transformations and operational excellence deployment utilizing an extensive playbook of lean tools and methodology.Coaches and develops teams to use lean techniques and thinking (leader as teacher)Uses lean MB&C, MS and OS diagnostic tools to identify full potential opportunities and gap closure plans.Facilitates the development, introduction and tracking of standard work for leaders within focus area.Teaches others to create and use lean standards.Implement activities, standards and improvements that build rapport throughout change team.Provides coaching through problem solving activities to address ongoing barriers to delivery.Identify capability gaps and prioritize activities to address these gaps.Provide training to close the lean capability gaps within the change team.Advocates value stream thinking through teaching and coaching mill teams in subject matter.Supports the strategy deployment process within the Mill to support KCP True North.Works with mill leadership to support strategy deployment process, including CI 3-year roadmap.Champions problem solving processes (e.g., Kaizen) within the Mill to engage associates.Supports linkage of CI priorities and methodologies directly to facility resultsProactively recommends business solutions through the lens of CI and can articulate how continuous improvement tools and processes can drive business value.
Focused Frontline Activities
Develops, facilitates, and manages transformational improvement and operational excellence plans for focused assets/areas including -Executes the transformation standard across mills, supply chain, and business groups as identified by transformation and operational excellence agenda.Manages the introduction of tools and processes to support the transformation, as countermeasure to an identified problemFacilitate kaizen events within the organization and provides coaching to others learning kaizen process.Analyzes value stream opportunities and drives improvements across end-to-end supply chain.Ensures existing activities are interlinked to provide a coherent framework to department objectives and goals.
Communication, Performance Measurement and Systems
Develops and manages systems and processes to ensure compliance with Plan, Do, Check, and Adjust processes within the Mill, including -Provides mechanism to track and report scorecard of Operational Excellence transformation measures through weekly/month accountability.Ensures all barriers to the acceleration change plan are identified and problem solved to achieve delivery of the implementation plan.Supports the internal governance / PDCA processes.Supports the introduction of management processes to ensure sustainability.Provides clear communication of the acceleration change plans.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree preferred.Previous exposure to lean principles and methodologiesLean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred. 1+ years of continuous improvement experience

Facilitation skillsInfluencing skills to encourage cross functional working.Excellent Communication skills (written & verbal)
