The Safety Intern assists in formulating, developing, andcoordinating safety and loss control functions. The ideal candidatewould be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite, havestrong command of safety equipment, best practices, and regulatoryrequirements, have the desire to hold employee safety and health aboveother site concerns, have effective written and verbal communicationskills, have the ability to handle customer and employee concerns withefficiency and professionalism, have the ability to present informationand lead discussions, have the ability to track and organize safetystatistics and forms, have knowledge of the electrical constructiontrade (preferred), and the ability to operate various types ofconstruction equipment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: C urrentlyenrolled in an approved Safety and Health Program Travel: 60-75% WorkSchedule: This position works between the hours of 6 AM and 6 PM,Monday- Friday. Schedule may vary and can include, but is not limitedto: nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work a flexible scheduleis necessary. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Monitors compliance withgovernment regulatory agencies such as OSHA, MSHA, DNR, etc. *Collaborates with Safety Department to improve safety and health for thecompany. * Interfaces with customers and general and specialtycontractors, as well as trade associations to facilitate best safetypractices and compliance and provide an appropriately consistentapproach to health, safety, and environmental issues. * Activelyparticipates in monthly job site specific ORM discussions and tool boxtalk meetings, including leading and facilitating discussions. * Servesas supplemental contact for onsite safety-related issues or concerns. *Completes job site safety audits, identifying unsafe conditions and workpractices, and ensures appropriate corrective actions are taken. *Provides support to site personnel. * Assists in task safety analysisand pre-planning. * Assists in training employees in Company generalsafety practices including, but not limited to: Aerial Lift, Forkliftand New Hire Safety Onboarding. * Assists in completing, submitting,and tracking forms of written communication including, but not limitedto: toolbox talks, safety plans and forms, procedures, andcorrespondence.
