Position Overview
The Construction Manager is responsible for the oversight of construction projects ensuring their progress and successful completion in a timely and cost-effective manner. This position will be responsible for the organization, implementation, and scheduling of the labor/crews for the construction of the project. This position reports to the Project Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion
Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors
Select tools, materials, and equipment, and tracks inventory
Review work progress daily
Risk management
Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.
Responsible for management of aerial/underground personnel to include in-house and subcontractor crews
Work closely with Project Manager and other staff to plan, schedule, update and identify operational problems or obstacles
Accurately and effectively prepare written correspondence to the project team
Attend construction and customer meetings with Project Managers
Review and provide input into project plans with the Project and Engineering Managers
Establish positive customer, management, and employee relationships
Manage personnel issues and determine if staffing needs are being met; recommend promotions or additional training, execute periodic employee reviews as determined by HR
Ensure all employees have a safe working environment
Able to meet and/or exceed project production goals
All other projects or duties as assigned
Requirements
Proven work experience in construction management
Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods
Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
Understanding of all facets of the construction process
Familiarity with construction management software packages
Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
Competent in conflict and crisis management
Leadership and human resources management skills
Excellent time and project management skills on a second-tier level desired
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field
FTTH large project construction management experience managing teams of subcontractors and in-house labor
Previous experience in aerial, underground, and splicing best practices including micro trench, HDD, missile, and fusion splicing
Ability to travel/live near the project site
Proven ability to manage customer demands and production/revenue targets under pressure with tight deadlines
Must possess computer skills and be able to aggregate digital production daily
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, work in inclement weather, stand, and drive for extended periods of time
Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas
Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable and sustained use of your arms, legs, and moving your entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting standing, and handling materials up to 75lbs
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment
