The Conservation Forester is a member of TNC's Resilient Forests Team in the Maryland/DC Chapter and provides forestry and forest management expertise for our projects on TNC preserves and with parnters on public and private lands. The Conservation Forester has two main roles: 1) planning and implementing forest restoration and sustainable forest management activities on conserved lands; and 2) assisting with the management and growth of the Family Forest Carbon Program. The position includes a diverse set of duties including fieldwork in remote areas, statistical analysis of forest inventory data, effective teamwork with diverse colleagues, and engagement with forest landowners.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
BA/BS degree in forestry, natural resources management or related field and 5 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge of current trends and practices in forestry and conservationExperience making ecologically based forest management decisionsExperience communicating with the public both in writing and verbally to technical and non-technical audiencesAble to perform physical work outdoors, in variable weather conditions and at remote locations, both in a group and individual settingConfidence in performing tasks with minimal supervision and making independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgmentMust have valid driver's licenseExcellent communication skills via written, spoken, and graphical means in EnglishWHAT WE BRING

SALARY INFORMATION
The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $61,000-64,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
