About the Department
The Cobey Lab is a computational lab that investigates how protectiveantibody responses to influenza arise after infection and vaccination,how they affect the epidemiology and evolution of influenza viruses, andhow a mechanistic, quantitative understanding of their dynamics can leadus to better vaccines and vaccination strategies. We collaborate closelywith epidemiologists and immunologists. The Lab seeks severalquantitative Computational Research Scientists to do statistical andcomputational research on projects ranging from the evolution of Bcells, the development of protective antibody responses over a lifetime,the antigenic evolution of influenza viruses, responses to seasonal anduniversal influenza vaccines, the estimation of seasonal influenzavaccine effectiveness, and the design of new vaccines. Job Summary
The job develops and implements programs to promote a research projector contributes to the scientific direction of a research resource.
Responsibilities
Design and perform computational and statistical analyses related tothe lab\'s research.Strive for reproducibility by maintaining well-documented, validatedcode.Summarize research results in writing and in oral presentations,including at meetings and conferences. Prepare scientificmanuscripts.Develop new statistical and programming skills.Develop deep expertise with literature relevant to research project.Manage the research project with the PI.Identify potential new research projects.Creates first drafts for scientific writing and publications,including protocols and grants.Trains and mentors laboratory personnel.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications
