Cognosante is seeking an outgoing, organized, eager, and proactive individual to fill a remote Compliance Officer role to support the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Medicare contract. This contract is a critical component of defending the Medicare Trust Fund by collecting billions of dollars annually in mistaken payments from debtors. The CMS Medicare contract is the center point of that process – combining both Coordination of Benefits case work and Data Collection from Beneficiaries, Group Health Plans (GHP) and Non-Group Health Plans (NGHP) to ensure accurate payment of Medicare claims.
What is the position?
The Compliance Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive compliance program to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating compliance risks while fostering a culture of ethics and integrity within the program.
What will I get to do?
Key responsibilities include:
Serve as key personnel on the contract.
Design, develop, and implement an effective and scalable compliance program tailored to the organization's needs.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to assess compliance risks and define program goals and objectives.
Create and update compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with relevant laws and industry best practices.
Ensure that policies are communicated effectively to all employees and stakeholders.
Develop and deliver comprehensive compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
Foster a culture of compliance awareness and ethical behavior throughout the organization.
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify compliance vulnerabilities.
Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and enhance overall compliance posture.
Establish monitoring mechanisms to track and report on compliance metrics.
Provide regular reports to senior management and relevant committees on the status of the compliance program.
Implement process to receive compliance-related complaints that permit anonymous reporting.
Coordinate and conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Lead or assist in investigations related to compliance matters, as necessary.
Serve as a central point of contact for compliance-related inquiries.
Collaborate with legal, human resources, and other departments to address compliance issues.
Other duties as assigned.
What qualifications do I need?
Required minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
5 or more years of experience developing and overseeing compliance programs.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Must be a US Citizen or Authorized to work in the US (if not a citizen) and a resident of the US for at least 3 years within the last 5 years.
What additional characteristics will help me thrive?
Experience with CMS programs and a strong understanding of compliance requirements.
Strong knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and CMS standards.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with technology solutions for compliance management.

Compensation
$77,059.11 - $124,450.68
The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees. It is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee.
