Summary:
The Compensation Manager is responsible for providing compensation guidance, analysis, and expertise to their assigned client groups. They provide full scope compensation program management, senior level consultation as well as analytical support to assist their client groups in making informed decisions related to employee pay. The person in this role will conduct external benchmarking, create job descriptions, and perform day-to-day compensation program administration, with a focus on ensuring pay equity throughout. Additionally, the Compensation Manager is responsible for managing or supporting other compensation operations initiatives that impact all of HHMI including but not limited to ad hoc analyses, salary survey participation, compliance research and reporting, and managing the annual update of our market pricing tool, MarketPay.
This role reports to HHMI's headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland three days a week and works remotely 2 days a week. They will report to the Director of Total Rewards.

You're Excited About This Opportunity Because You Will…
Partner with HR Business Partners and people managers to deliver compensation guidance and expertise to support the business according to HHMI compensation philosophy and established practices.Provide analytical compensation expertise on critical business initiatives.Manage and maintain MarketPay to ensure data is accurate and up to date.Participate in salary surveys and analyze results to ensure competitive position in the market.Conduct market analysis for new and existing jobs and provide salary/grade recommendations based on market analysis results and internal equity considerations.Partner with the Senior Compensation Programs Manager to deliver the annual salary planning process to assigned client groups. Maintain documentation in support of the process. Provide guidance and expertise with questions related to merit increases, promotions, and equity adjustments.Serve as subject matter expert in determining FLSA classification status. Conduct periodic audits of internal data to maintain compliance with federal regulations.Responsible for working with highly critical and confidential information and maintaining the confidentiality of the information.Prepare reports, presentations, communications, and documentation as required.Develop new job descriptions and maintain job description library.Prepare and submit data for various government compliance reporting including EEO and DOL monthly reporting.Contribute to the development and upgrade of applications as they impact compensation programs.
We're Excited About You Because…
You have a bachelor's degree in human resources, or related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.You have a World at Work CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) certification.You have five to eight years of experience managing and supporting employee compensation programs.
Minimum of three years of experience with HR information systems and compensation process software. Workday experience strongly preferred.You possess experience with automated market survey data; MarketPay preferred.You can build relationships and partner effectively with other departments to deliver collaborative and successful outcomes on complicated issues.You pay excellent attention to detail and can deliver consistent high quality work product.You possess extensive knowledge of relevant U.S. laws and regulations related to compensation programs (i.e., FLSA, Equal Pay Act, Title VII, etc.)You are able to successfully lead multiple priorities while meeting agreed upon timelines and handling client expectations.You can handle situations that have multiple interpretations and require careful evaluation.

Compensation Range
$109,810.40 (minimum) - $137,263.00 (midpoint) - $178,441.90 (maximum)

HHMI's salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers. Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
