JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Smooth surfacesand removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting.This is done through scraping or using sandblasting equipment. Fillsnail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or otherfiller. Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment,oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matchesspecified colors. Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switchcovers from walls prior to painting. Paints surfaces with brushes, spraygun (conventional or airless), or paint rollers. Applies paint withcloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects. Erectsscaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.Wears necessary protective equipment such as a respirator or spray hood,hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, hand protection, and hearingprotection or any additional personal protective equipment that isrequired by the customer. Ability to travel to various worksites,primarily in the Midwest. Overnight travel may be required. Continuouslyworks in a manner to ensure safety of self and others. Additional dutiesas assigned. Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster,or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives. Smooth surfaces,using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines.Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood ormetal, for finish coats. Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, or otherfinishes to equipment, buildings, bridges, or other structures, usingbrushes, spray guns, or rollers. Erect scaffolding or swing gates, orset up ladders, to work above ground level. Polish final coats tospecified finishes. Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wirebrushing, burning, or using water or abrasive blasting.
