For more than 50 years, GOBI has been the global leader in meeting the collection development, acquisition, and technical service needs of research and scholarly libraries and their consortia. Currently, we are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual to join our sales team on a full-time basis in the role of Collection Development Manager for the territory of New York, New Jersey and eastern PA. GOBI was acquired by EBSCO Information Services in February 2015.
Your Opportunity
As Collection Development Manager you will be responsible for maintaining business with current customers and growing the territory with new business by identifying and selling all academic products and services offered by GOBI. Through a consultative sales process, the successful candidate will provide library workflow solutions designed to increase library efficiency, retain current sales, generate and pursue new business opportunities, and build customer loyalty. Position is territory-based and currently 100% remote but will require overnight. Overall travel is estimated at 50%.
What You’ll Do
Identify new sales opportunities, while retaining current business, within existing accounts in the assigned territory by developing strong relationships with customers and prospects
Recommend product and workflow/service solutions to increase library efficiency by providing support, training, information, and data driven guidance to assigned libraries
Facilitate collection development process between GOBI and the library customer through the creation and maintenance of approval book and slip profiles and implement new collection methods such as demand-driven selection, evidence-based acquisitions and ebook-preferred approval plans
Manage the sales process utilizing internal resources including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, GOBI ordering platform, technical service and collection development applications and interfaces.
Prepare required territorial reports such as sales call reports, competitor data, territorial strategy, and expense reports on a weekly basis and make recommendations to libraries by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
Communicate and interact with multiple departments and business units (Operations, Information Systems, Distribution, Continuations, Customer Service, Publisher Relations, Human Resources, Technical Services, Senior Management, Accounting) to ensure adherence to customer requirements
Develop new or improved products or service by remaining current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors

You will be welcomed as a member of the GOBI Collection Development Manager team, which is made up of about 15 experienced librarians and sales professionals and the larger Sales and Marketing organization. About You
5+ years of experience in library or publisher industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of library technical services, publishing, collection development, integrated library systems, and other bibliographic databases
Significant experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Excellent communications skills, oral and written, and public speaking experience

Our Offer to You
Target Annual Compensation Range: $81,900 – $117,000. This Pay Target range includes a typical sales commission based on retention and growth. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
