In the role ofCoding Specialist II you will bethe Clinical Practice Servicesdepartment. You will perform coding and related duties using establishedbilling office policies in an accurate and timely manner. Be the primarycontact with physicians, department administrators, hospital and/orclinical department administrators and their support staff and billingstaff. You will also coordinate professional service billings forselected clinical departments. Responsibilities: CHARGE PROCESSINGAssignment or verificaiton of CPT, ICD-10 CM coding and modifiers basedupon documentation. (Inpatient/Emergency Department abstraction,abmulatory coding and/or surgical/procedural coding) Resolve edits forelectronic charges, following established policies and procedures toinusre that all data elements (claim requriements- CPT, ICD-10 CM,modifiers, provider, billing area, etc.) are applied. Charge Entry asneeded. RECONCILIATION OF CHARGES: Monitor charge flow and act as aliaison with managers, department administrators and other billingpersonnel to assure consistent and accurate chage flow. Work with clinicstaff and physicians regarding missing or unclear information that isrequired for billing. CLAIM DENIALS / BILLING ISSUES: Identify, report,and resolve coding and reimbursement issues. Working with physicians,department administrators and other billing office staff, includingreimbursement staff. Identify opportunities to reduce denials andenhance revenue. PROTOCOLS: Develop and maintain all protocols relatedto their assigned areas. PROVIDER EDUCATION: Maintain understanding allTeaching Physician and provider documentation policies. Activelyparticipate in new provider orientations. Note and address trends inprovider documentation that may impact coding and billing. Knowledge -Skills - Abilities Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 CM coding.Understanding of medical insurance guidelines and governmental policies.Progressive computer skills. Detail oriented. Ability to establish andmaintain effective working relationships with the team and departmentstaff (including administrative staff and faculty). Meet or exceedestablished production rate and performance standards.
