JOB REQUIREMENTS: SUMMARY OF POSITION: The CNC Universal Grinder isresponsible to set up and operate universal CNC grinding machines toperform a variety of complex machining operations to close tolerancecustomer specifications. Perform frequent changeovers for small quantitycustom orders. Maximize production efficiencies through simultaneousoperation of more than one machine. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES: Receiveand review work assignments; verify that work pieces and routing matchregarding count, type and proper sequence. Follow established proceduresfor machine set up, including; select proper grind wheels, bushings,collets and programs to be use; input tool and set up values; grindfirst piece, inspect, adjust as needed and obtain approval fromleadworker or supervisor when process has been completed. Set up andoperate multiple machines as needed. Enter all production informationinto the data collection system. Monitor equipment performance; reportproblems and request required maintenance to avoid unnecessary downtimeand machine damage or repairs. Perform all other duties as assigned.Responsible for keeping area clean at all times. EDUCATION: Three tofive years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinationof education and experience preferred or willing to train on 1st shiftfor 6 to 12 months to learn machine operation. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:Previous experience with basic machine operation or related technicaltraining. One year of direct machine setup and operation experience.Previous experience involving principles of grinding. Must be able toread, understand and follow written instructions and shop drawings.Above average math skills. Must be able to calculate appropriate machinesettings and adjust accordingly. Must have good math and trigonometryskills. Must be able to use required precision measuring and testingequipment. Broad knowledge of cutting tool design and universal grindingprocedures through using multi-axis CNC equipment. Computer literate,able to enter programs and directions.
