Job Description:The C.N.A. student learns how to accurately andcompassionately act as a clinical support partner to assist the patient careteam by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensedprofessional. Caregivers in this role will become skilled at basic patientcare skills including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes,ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient care skills. A student ingood standing, upon completion of an approved CNA program has theopportunity to advance to a Patient Care Tech (PCT) or a Home Care Aideposition at Intermountain. Students will be required to obtain C.N.A.certification within 150 days of being hired into the CNA Student role.
The C.N.A. student will attend a one-week course through Intermountain'spartner and complete clinical rotations required to sit for the exam.
The C.N.A. Student works a variety of shifts that may include weekends,holidays and nights and in various facilities, as needed.
Pay Details: Flat Rate of $18.29
Patient Care:
The CNA must be supervised during any clinicals prior to obtaining CNAcertificate.
Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care which may include toileting,bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating,comfort measures, and other patient needs.
Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
Provides excellent customer service when responding to patient and familyrequests.
Reports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner. Reportschanges in the patient condition quickly and secures qualified assistance asneeded.
Based on unit, may also be responsible for telemetry duties.
Can function as a patient care attendant by monitoring patient, taking careof patient care needs, and involving other members of the patient care teamas needed.
When working on a clinical unit, may be required to take medications fromthe delivery system to the RN.
Collaboration:
Collaborates and consults with RN and other members of the interdisciplinaryteam for best patient care.Demonstrates effective teamwork, prioritization, communication, andorganization.Performs non-nursing duties as delegated (e.g., cleaning, stocking,answering phones, clerical support, providing directions).Implements plan of care as delegated.Performs assigned duties within Scope of Practice. Performs specializedprocedures with skill validation and according to regulatory standards.Fosters a safe environment by complying with the safety policy and takingappropriate action in an emergency.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers is required andwhile preferred upon hire, will be obtained as part of the CNA studentprogram.
