CLUB LEADER - JOB DESCRIPTION(21st Century Community Learning Center Grant)Purpose Statement:The job of After School Program Club Leader is established for the purpose/s ofhelping students develop and strengthen academic, physical and social skills byproviding assistance and tutoring to students in the after school program. Club Leaders will beresponsible for providing academic tutoring and enrichment programming (i.e. poetry, art,drama, music, dance etc.) for designated groups of up to fifteen elementary or twenty secondarystudents; and organizing and providing recreation activities. Club Leaders will work under thedirection of the 21st CCLC site facilitator and other CLC leadership.Essential Functions:* Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. readingstories, listening to students reading, language, spelling, facilitating activities, motorperception programs, colors, number charts, checks homework, etc.) for the purpose ofpresenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts and reaching their academic goals andpotential.* Attends meetings with site facilitator and/or After School Lead, after school staffmeetings and training opportunities for the purpose of reviewing and coordinating afterschool activities.* Implements instructional learning activities for the purpose of improving students'academic, physical and social skills. Maintains classroom equipment and work area.Modifies classroom work/homework for the purpose of providing a method to supportand/or reinforce classroom objectives.* Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom,playground, library, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school rules and proceduresregarding student behavior and participation and/or providing a safe, respectful andpositive multicultural learning environment.* Performs record keeping and clerical functions (attendance, phone calls, etc.) for thepurpose of providing necessary records/materials and helping students succeed.* Promotes good habits for the purpose of improving the quality of students outcome andencouraging student development.Other Functions:* Assists site facilitator at elementary schools at the completion of snack so that thecafeteria is left clean.* Assists other personnel (e.g. community partners) as may be required for the purpose ofsupporting them in the completion of their work activitiesUpdated 1/15/19Education/Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Previous experience in working with children preferredRequired Characteristics and Qualifications:Willingness and ability to be trained to complete the tasks essential to this positionAbility to communicate with colleagues, follow instructions and use problem-solving and otherskills that will enable applicant to work effectively as a member of the instructional team; usesappropriate communication in both oral and written languageAbility to practice ethical and professional standards of conductAbility to motivate and assist children to build self-esteem through strengthening skills sostudents become more independent and by monitoring and controlling behaviorAbility to follow health, safety and emergency proceduresAbility to use equipment and provide special care as neededDisplays enthusiasm, flexibility and understanding of children and the educational settingPromotes positive self-conceptIs self-motivated; ability to implement activities as planned by site directorIs willing and able to be trained in the use of communication devicesOther duties as assignedPhysical Requirements:Visual and auditory acuity and mobility to move about the building, both indoors and outdoorsDexterity to help with mobility and safety of studentsOccasional assistance in physical management of students and lifting/moving minimum of 40lbs.Rate of Compensation:$20 per hourUpdated 1/1 /19
