Job Description
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic licensed social work professional to work at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC). The incumbent will work to support individuals during the DMH service determination process as well as those enrolled in the Center's outpatient clinic. This professional will conduct high quality, culturally informed and recovery focused assessments for all new and returning individuals as part of the DMH authorization and eligibility determination process as well intakes for the Center's outpatient clinic. This role will be responsible for facilitating access to individual treatment and care coordination services for persons who live with serious mental illness as well as for providing social work services to individuals enrolled in the Center's outpatient clinic. The ideal candidate is organized and detail oriented, has excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and is compassionate, flexible and creative.
Duties and Responsibilities (this is a general summary and is not all-inclusive):
Assess clients using a culturally informed lens to determine their needs in an environment of their preference. Upon completion of needs and means assessment, make all necessary referrals to community programs and documents this in the EHR. Respond to all incoming phone inquiries regarding DMH services. Provide clinical care coordination for newly referred and returning clients until service linkages are confirmed. Participate in clinical intakes for outpatient services. Represents the site and/or Metro Boston Area on DMH wide committees as assigned by Center Director or his/her/their designee. Responsible for completion/submission of voter registration as part of the service authorization process.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of the principles of a biopsychosocial assessment and can conduct a diagnostic assessment. Knowledge of interviewing and diagnostic assessment skills, and the principles of wellness and recovery.Skilled in utilizing sound judgment, making decisions, acting quickly in emergency situations and treating and interacting with persons who are under physical/emotional stress.Ability to establish rapport and deal effectively with persons from diverse cultures, races, and lifestyles and maintain confidentiality of client information.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of public and private community-based resources for clients and knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures governing agency and unit.• Knowledge of safety practices and procedures followed by agency and unit.
Please note: This is a full-time, 40-hour position. The hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with Saturday and Sunday as the days off.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE: None. (See Required Education and Licenses.)
REQUIRED EDUCATION: A Master's or higher degree in social work.
LICENSES: Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
- Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Certified Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work.
