About the Department
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago is a dynamicand stimulating place to work. We strive for the highest level ofcomplex care for children from diagnosis and treatment; provideoutstanding education and training for students, postgraduate scholars,and physicians; and nurture the research of Department scholars who seekto elucidate the causes of pediatric disease and identify promising newtherapies. In addition to our provision of clinical care at UChicagoMedicine (UCM) Comer Children\'s Hospital and at our regional sites, weare currently expanding our clinical care across Northern Illinois andNorthwestern Indiana. In collaboration with our partners in theChicagoland Children\'s Health Alliance (CCHA; Advocate Children\'sHospital, and NorthShore University Health System). CCHA hasresponsibility for the care of almost 1 million children. The Departmenthas 6 ambulatory sites and 3 inpatient sites of care across the regionwith the goal of providing care \'close to home\' whenever feasible(https://pediatrics.uchicago.edu/). Job Summary
Manages Section and external clinical contracts ensuring efficient andeffective operations throughout; plans, organizes, directs, and controlsactivities that support each Section\'s clinical, educational, andresearch missions. Provides administrative leadership in formulating andimplementing section and department objectives aligned withorganizational goals and objectives; collaborates department-wide tofurther goals and objectives. Oversees the day-to-day operations,workflows, and problem resolution.

Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Execution:
Assists Department Leadership in developing the long-term strategyfor section faculty and staff recruitment, marketing and existingprogram development to facilitate strategic operating plans.Develops tactics to support and implement the sections\' long-termstrategic goals and operating plan.Participates in identifying priorities and in preparing andimplementing strategic and tactical plans.Participates in and completes various institutional surveyinitiatives.Maintains plan, monitors metrics, and reports on progress.Negotiates and implements internal and external agreements inpartnership with Department Leadership and Finance.Assesses provider capacity and access, ensures adequate provider andsupport staffing plans.Clinical Practice Management:
Works collaboratively with leadership of UCM and BSD to ensuresmooth and efficient clinical operations which include internalneeds, offsite and joint ventures, and appropriate clinical programstrategic growth to serve the mission of UCM and its patients.Partners with Chairmen, Executive Administrator, and Section Chiefto ensure appropriate provider coverage for relevant areas.Financial Responsibilities and Oversight:
Plans with Sections and Department Leadership for optimal financialperformance of the Section; develops annual and ad hoc budgets andother analyses, for e ample: regularly monitors status and ensuresperformance against budget, identifies need, analyzes and presentsad hoc reports and graphs; ensures professional billing financialintegrity and compliance; approves and monitors expenses; identifiesand implements cost containment measures; and ensures compliancewith fiscal policies and procedures.Provides fiduciary leadership in overseeing financial operationsdevelopment, including taking a lead role in providing short- andlong-term financial forecasting, operational budgeting, revenuegeneration, expense management, financial analysis and financialoperations.Understands and oversees the implementation of program budgets aswell as identifies and reports undesirable trends in order to makerecommendations for action.Understands the dynamics of health care accounting and appliesknowledge in ensuring appropriate direct and indirect revenue andexpenses related to grants, on- and off-site clinical activities,and other activities.Researches, compiles, and analyzes data to create reports, proposalsand other documents.Marketing, Communications, and Outreach:
