Description
ICF is seeking an On-Call Clinical Informaticist to provide expert services and leadership in specialized health/medical areas, including but not limited to Clinical Decision Support, health data interoperability, VistA/Cerner Millennium platforms, and healthcare workflows, both clinical and non-clinical. The Clinical Informaticist will coordinate with management and technical personnel to ensure that problems are properly defined, and that the solution developed will satisfy the customer’s requirements. This role will also provide technical editing expertise on all deliverables to the government.
Our agile team is responsible for documenting available tools and methods for integration of external Clinical Decision Support (CDS) into current and future VA EHR platforms: VistA and Oracle Cerner Millennium. The publication of a white paper will explore the methods of integrating external CDS, considering factors such as system integration requirements, data interoperability, and workflow compatibility. This report will be used to support a pilot project that integrates external CDS services using the CDS Hooks standard into VistA or Cerner Millennium. The analysis will serve as the basis for future investigations of the ideal tool or tools for integrating external CDS in support of several use cases.
Key Responsibilities/Job Duties
Perform research for an environmental scan to highlight methods of integrating external CDS
Contribute to a white paper (responsible for writing content) on the available tools and/or methods for integration of external CDS into VA EHR platforms
Work with VA clinical subject matter experts to solicit feedback on the available CDS tools
Incorporate knowledge of artificial intelligence methods such as machine learning algorithms and large language models in CDS to support use
Work with team to suggest potential architectures for integration of external CDS with Cerner Millennium Power Chart using CDS Hooks
Provide technical editing expertise
Other duties as identified by the Program Manager, Project Manager, or client
Required Qualifications
MD with 2+ years experience OR
PhD in a health-related field and 8+ years experience in healthcare IT OR
Master’s Degree in a health-related field and 10+ years experience in healthcare IT
OR Bachelor’s degree/RN with 15+ years experience in healthcare IT
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with CDS
Experience working with federal agencies such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Veteran’s Administration (VA) and Department of Defense (DoD) experience a plus
Experience with VA EHR platforms: VistA and Oracle Cerner Millennium
PMP Certification
Experience with Scrum Framework, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience a plus

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:
$123,765.00 - $210,400.00
