Promotional One year of permanent competitive service as a Climate Policy Analyst 1Open CompetitiveA Bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science, biology, chemistry, coastal resources management, communications, ecology, economics, ecosystem management, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, environmental studies, forestry, geography, geology, hydrology, marine science, meteorology, natural resources, natural science, physical science, physics, planning, public administration, public policy, public policy and management, sustainability, transportation planning, wildlife science, or zoology and three years of full-time professional experience in the establishment of environmental programs, preparing or reviewing climate relevant policies, plans, projects, regulations or environmental analysis of climate change issues.A qualifying Masters’ degree or higher can be substituted for one year of qualifying experience
Duties Description The Climate Policy Analyst 2 will serve as the GHG Inventory and Analysis Section Leader and will work within the Office of Climate Change (OCC) GHG Mitigation Bureau. The Inventory and Analysis Section Leader will ensure timely development of the annual state greenhouse gas emissions report, oversee the collection and management of related datasets, provide analyses of policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and supervise Climate Policy Analyst 1 staff in related tasks. The successful candidate will have experience assembling state and local GHG emission inventories and demonstrated knowledge of New York state emission sources and accounting methods.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
