Climate Compliance and Operational Risk Manager

Job Description:
This role is responsible for the execution of the elements of the compliance and operational risk program related to climate change and the environment, including identifying, escalating, and mitigating risks, as well as serving as a subject matter expert on specific processes, controls, laws, rules and/or regulations related to climate change and the environment that have enterprise-wide applicability. The role engages with FLU/CF leaders globally, coordinating with other Global Risk Management (GRM) teams to independently advise those leaders on effectively managing the risks related to their area of coverage. The role includes identifying themes and trends, conducting analysis for new and emerging risks and recommending approaches to mitigate these risks.
The candidate will be part of the Climate and Environmental Risk team and provide independent oversight to ensure that the operational and compliance risks of climate change are well understood and appropriately managed.
Activities this role performs for their area of coverage include, but are not limited to:
• Monitors the regulatory environment to identify regulatory changes applicable to area(s) of coverage, advises business leaders on those changes, directs the appropriate areas to implement or amend policies, standards, procedures and/or processes to address regulatory requirements, and challenges the implementation plan as needed; maintains a comprehensive regulatory inventory
• Identifies regulatory training needs and provides subject matter expertise to support the development of training
• Identifies, aggregates, reports, escalates, inspects and challenges remediation plans, and performs thematic analysis on FLU/CF-owned issues and control enhancements
• Contributes to or leads development of risk coverage plans, executes and / or oversees execution of monitoring, testing and risk assessments, and communicates results
• Reviews and challenges the FLU/CF single process inventory and analyzes internal and external operational losses to identify and document themes, trends, risks and controls.
• Participates in Scenario Analysis activities for coverage areas and challenges as appropriate
• Ensures metrics are designed to measure key risks and control performance, monitors and reports on metric performance and breach remediation
Required Skills:
• 7+ years of experience in financial services industry or experience in a related field
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate to senior level management, including delivering difficult messages
• Intellectual curiosity
• Understanding of the connections between processes, risks, controls and metrics in managing operational risk
Desired Skills:
Excellent Excel and PowerPoint Skills
Project management skills
Knowledge of climate change topics
Experience with banking regulators and regulatory change
Experience in a financial services operational risk or business controls team
