Description:
Position Purpose:
The Clerk Scheduler is responsible for greeting and directing patients, answering the telephone, filing, ordering clinical tests, scheduling patient appointments, obtaining medical records, supporting patient care functions, and other clerical duties.
What you will Do:
Demonstrates customer service to others as a number one priority and accomplishes this by integrating Service Excellence into all aspects of the workday, taking responsibility for service recovery and working for outcomes that delight the customer.
Provides a warm welcome to all patients and public entering the area and directs them to proper areas, anticipates their needs and as they leave. Answers the telephone promptly using good telephone etiquette skills. Directs the call and relays messages appropriately.
Schedules and coordinates patient appointments efficiently, assessing for level of priority, which may be during peak workload times that require multi-tasking several requests at one time.
Initiates pre-service check on all treatment(s), test(s), and procedures ordered by provider(s) and/or nursing staff members.
Works directly with patients providing instructions regarding required prep for ordered tests/procedures.
Serves as a resource to others both in and out of the department.
Accurately enters into the computer appropriate tests and data ordered by the physician(s) and staff ensuring orders, pre-service checks, and other required information are not missed to ensure the patient is cared for efficiently.
Performs filing, copying of documents, reconciling schedule at the end of each day and other secretarial duties.
Hours/Schedule:
Monday - Friday working varied day shift schedules (7:45am-4:15pm, 8:00am-4:30pm, 8:15am-4:45pm or 8:50am-5:00pm).
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
Sensitivity toward the needs of the cancer patients and their families.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual able to work with minimum supervision and possess the ability to work under pressure due to fluctuating workloads.
Ability to work as a team.
