The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
Plans, organizes, and directs the commercial Specialized Casualty claims (including EPL, EBL, mass tort, class action, and other specialty claims) handling activities within a team of 5-7 claims handlers. Achieves superior claims outcomes through effective team management, quality service delivery, strategy, and the use of technology, data analytics, and processes/programs.
This is a remote position, you will be required to go into the office twice a month if you reside within 50 miles of one of the following offices: Bala Cynwyd, PA; Boston, MA; Hoffman Estates, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Lake Oswego, OR; Las Vegas, NV; Plano, TX; Suwanee, GA; Syracuse, NY; Tampa, FL; or Weatogue, CT. Responsibilities Involves managing a team pending involving complex, multi-policy year, high-valued, high-profile, matters. Manages the claim team to ensure that adequate resources and technical skills are enforced to handle claims in accordance within guidelines, expectations, and towards positive outcomes. Focuses staff on strong coverage analysis, expense management, litigation management, file documentation, file strategy, enterprise/broad view of exposure, continuous improvement, and driving the team's effectiveness. Reviews and approves, within assigned authority limits, claim expenses and settlements that exceed the claims employee's authority level; and, appropriately refers claim expenses and settlements that exceed personal authority limits for approval. Monitors and evaluates the claims reserve practices within the team and ensures that actual reserves are accurate and established promptly. Notifies internal and external stakeholders; coordinates and collaborates with Actuarial and the Underwriting organization. Builds and strengthens the Underwriting and Claims relationship and enhancing the feedback loop. Prepares and distributes management reports, analyzes, and reports on claims trends and issues. Maintains awareness of existing and proposed legislation, court decisions and emerging trends in claims litigation to monitor the company's compliance with state and federal legislation. Involvement in Opioid, Biometric Privacy, Class Action, Mass Tort, and emerging trends. Coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on coverage issues; as well as providing an enterprise-wide view of various risks; strong coverage analysis skills, organizational, time-management, and ability to address multiple priorities. Qualifications Advanced knowledge of commercial property/casualty insurance, claims investigation, coverage evaluation, loss assessment, reserving, insurance legal & regulatory environment, claims processes, applications/systems and procedures, medical terminology, and finance Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others, implement strategies and plans created by senior leaders, develop staff, and achieve goals/objectives the right way. Other skills required include: planning/organizing work, communication (listening, delivering complex messages, gaining support, promoting collaboration, etc Diplomacy/tact, business/financial acumen, and adaptability as normally acquired through a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 7+ years of progressively more responsible related work experience.
