Your Opportunity
The role of a Civil Team Lead is to help build our civil engineering business in the Lower Mainland, providing leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary engineering design team. Acting as Team Lead, you will coordinate directly with team leads from other offices across the BC region and beyond, building relationships with transportation colleagues as well as other business lines across Stantec. You will interface directly with clients and stakeholders to effectively manage project deliverables, with a focus on quality and team collaboration. You will be the local Vancouver office key point of contact for the BC Transportation Team, supporting leadership with meeting business objectives.
A Civil Team Lead has the interpersonal skills to foster a positive team environment and support a culture of safety. Through your broad consulting background, managing local staff will include providing day-to-day technical coaching and guidance, mentorship, and taking responsible charge of work products.
You will perform a variety of tasks which may include: design management, business planning, project management, client account management, resource planning, proposal writing, and quality management.
Your Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership for a team of 15-20 engineers, project managers, technologists, surveyors, and planners.
Provide senior oversight for project managers and project engineers, including production of engineering drawings, technical specifications, opinions of probable costs (engineer’s estimates), engineering reports and required applications to regulatory agencies.
May be responsible for the review and sealing of own projects or the work of the others.
Manages the design and construction of projects.
Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and reviewing agency personnel.
Organize and chair regular team meetings to review project and proposal milestones, confirm resource needs, review client expectations, facilitate inter-office work collaboration, and plan team building activities.
Attend and report out on progress and resource needs at monthly team leads meetings, including key performance indicator tracking.
Conduct market research, utilizing client relationships, to contribute to annual business planning efforts alongside fellow team leads.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong communication skills, including an aptitude for effective leadership and people management.
Comprehensive understanding of all phases of infrastructure projects, including conventional and alternative delivery methods for public and private clients.
Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and stakeholders.
Possesses excellent time-management skills; Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.
Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
Strong understanding of relevant design software, which may include AutoCAD, SAP2000, Synchro, AutoTurn, VISSIM, Civil3D, GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, and PondPack.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field & Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 10 years of experience.
Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.

Salary Range(s):
Lower Mainland $123,800 - Lower Mainland $185,700 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BCThe final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
