Are you an engineering student seeking rewarding, practical experience with a world-class engineering firm? The ARA office in Camp Hill, PA is seeking civil engineering interns available to work this summer. Interns may support a variety of engineering tasks, such as assisting in the evaluation of pavement condition data as part of pavement management implementations and pavement engineering projects.
Under direct supervision, civil engineering interns may perform any or all of the following tasks:
Evaluate pavement conditions by viewing digital images collected by ARA’s scanning laser technology equipment
Conduct pavement condition evaluations using a foot-on-ground procedure to document pavement distress types, quantities, and severity
Perform basic statistical analysis of pavement data in support of pavement evaluation studies
Enter data into PAVER (pavement management system software) related to pavement rehabilitation history and unit costs, and develop standard reports to summarize current and project pavement conditions
Prepare data tables and charts for use in engineering and pavement management reports
Contribute to literature reviews on transportation engineering research efforts

Civil engineering intern requirements:
Must be currently enrolled as an engineering student (Civil Engineering preferred) pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher at an accredited U.S. college or university
Academic coursework in transportation, materials, and/or geotechnical areas preferred
Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
The rate of pay for this position is $18.50/hr, and premium overtime is paid for hours over 40 in a week.
