Reporting to the Program Manager, the Children's Program Coordinator oversees a comprehensive children's program, managing intake, assessments, case management, support groups, children's activities, parenting support, and resource referrals. The position involves approximately 2 evenings/nights per week.This position is full-time, non-exempt, and located in Seattle, Washington.Pay Rate: $27/hourDuties & ResponsibilitiesOrganize and implement diverse children's activities (ages 0-17) such as art projects, games, crafts, field trips, movie nights, and special events.Develop and conduct parent support/parenting skills groups and one-on-one sessions.Perform intake assessments for parents and children, identifying needs and facilitating access to resources like clothing, medicine, toys, schooling, and counseling.Provide information and referrals to parents for community resources, programs, and services.Maintain case documentation, collect statistical data, and evaluate client progress.Coordinate with DV advocacy staff and share community resource updates.Guide Children's Program volunteers, order necessary supplies, and offer backup support to DV advocates.Participate in meetings, advocacy efforts, committees, and networking opportunities.Provide crisis intervention, security procedures, and timely notifications.Offer orientation, support, and supervision to volunteers, new staff, and interns.Attend trainings to meet state requirements and promote professional growth.Represent The Salvation Army's programs to the community and agencies.Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and pass required tests and checks.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in social work or related field plus one year of child services experience, OR equivalent work experience with two years of child services experience.Experience with homeless populations and services.Training in working with children and parents affected by domestic violence, including issues like sexual assault, conduct disorders, mental health, and child abuse/neglect.Independent work experience providing parent and children's group activities.Education in domestic violence and advocacy-based counseling, meeting Washington State requirements.Networking and advocacy with other agencies on behalf of abused adults and children is desirable.Ability to engage with diverse staff and residents, respecting differences in race, culture, economics, language, religion, lifestyle, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, and abilities.The information in this job description indicates the general nature and level of work performed by an employee in this classification.
