The Marion County Court of Common Pleas Family Division is taking applications for the position of Chief Juvenile Probation Officer. Marion's Family Court includes the County's Probate, Domestic Relations, and Juvenile Divisions and is located at 222 West Center Street in Marion, Ohio.
The Chief Probation Officer reports directly to the Administrative Director. This position is classified as an exempt, unclassified, administrator-level position within the Juvenile Court. Normal business hours are 8:30 -- 4:30, Monday through Friday. However, the Chief Probation Officer is expected to be available for consultation and for emergencies at any time. Marion County offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with an attractive OPERS retirement benefit. Annual salary will be between $57,000 - $61,000, commensurate with experience & education.

The Chief Probation Officer plays an important role as we strive to adhere to JDAI principles and restorative justice practices. Section 2: Duties & Responsibilities
Duties of the Chief include, but are not limited to:
Supervision of probation officers & one administrative assistantManage Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) grants, including budget creation, grant writing/updating, and data reportingLead the Family Dependency Treatment Court, a specialized docketConduct regular supervision meetings with Probation Officers and conduct case review meetingsFostering of JDAI principles and the concept of a trauma informed CourtManage in-office disputes and complaints from the publicServe as Marion County's liaison to the Department of Youth ServicesManage Probation Officer training schedulesFoster and maintain good working relationships with the community, justice system partners, community agencies, schools, and attorneysAvailable to be on-call after hours for phone consultation and in rare occasions, the Chief Probation Officer may need to respond to emergency situationsEnsure that the department is operating on sound protocol, policies, and procedures

Preferred qualifications for position include:
Bachelor's Degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or related field required, Master's Degree a plusAt least five years of experience as a Probation Officer, Juvenile Court experience a plusSupervisory experience a plusKnowledge of or experience with JDAI, restorative justice practices, and experience with evidence-based practices```{=html}
