WAGE: Starting annual salary: $85,413 negotiated, dependent oneducation and experience

DUTIES:Job Goal:To keep schools properly maintained and the District fiscally solvent.Essential Functions: Performance Responsibilities:Responsible for initiating and implementing sound management practices tomanage and direct the accounting, budgeting, and investment function ofthe district. Responsible for directing the accounting and budgetingpractices and policies of the district to ensure that all financial recordsare maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles,Board of Education policies, and federal, state, and local laws andregulations. Responsible for staying abreast of new and proposed accountingand budgeting principles, regulations, and legislation. Work toidentify, adopt, and implement prevailing business practice in order toimprove operation efficiency and effectiveness. Maintain budget controlsthroughout each fiscal year.Collaborate with District administrators and community stakeholders to developand prepare the annual budget of the District. Provide budget developmenttraining and support to schools and departments. Prepare and deliver budgetand financial reports to the Board of Education under the direction of theSuperintendent, including budget recommendations as conditions change.Responsible for the district's multi-year financial plan and forecastingmodel. Responsible for staying abreast of economic changes, variables,and the assumptions in regard to the School Finance Act, pupil countinformation and all necessary and relevant information in order to ensure thefiscal stability of the school district.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with governmentalagencies, municipalities, community groups, and other Districtstakeholders on budget matters, including submission of mandated state andDistrict reports.Manage and analyze District financial data to ensure informed decision-makingby the Board of Education.Serve as District's Investment Officer and Debt Administrator.Evaluate and counsel District requests for financial information in relationto District policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, andlocal school finance laws and regulations. Provide training for Districtemployees on sound financial procedures; audit District schools' anddepartments' revenues/expenditures.Responsible for the preparation of all financial statements, varianceanalysis, reporting and projection of balances and other necessary reportsfor submission to management, Board of Education, and other regulatory andadvisory agencies. Manage and analyze district financial and budget data toensure informed decision making. Prepare and submit, in an accurate,complete, and timely manner, all reports for the Colorado Department ofEducatiWork with the District's Financial Auditor to ensure timely and accuratecompletion of the distric 's Annual Financial Audit and mandatory reportingto Colorado Department of Education and other regulatory agencies.Prepare various Requests for Proposals; participate in certain selectiondetermination processes.Assist, participate, and/or facilitate District committees, providingoverview of finance considerations and policies interpretations/guidance.Collaborate with District administrators in the preparation of departmentbudgets, projects, and other financial issues.Manage commercial banking relationships.Lead the risk management efforts with regular communication with carriers andbrokers regarding property and liability insurance policies.Supervise Business Office staff, of which consists of: Accounts Payable,Accounts Receivable and Payroll.Observe all District policies and procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned.Qualifications and Education Requirements:Bachelor's degree in accounting or financial management required.
