Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff; determines work schedules and authorizes leaves assuring effective, efficient, and timely completion of all work.Directs the development and enhancement of automated systems used for processing work, maintaining records, and generating reports.Coordinates efforts with other government agencies, elected officials, jurisdictions, vendors, and the community regarding the operations of the elections and marriage functions for the city.Oversees the storage, maintenance, and disposal of documents in accordance with established records retention schedules, Federal and State statutes.Compiles and maintains an election calendar for management of full election cycle.Maintains and updates Citys election website to ensure posting of current information, forms, and other documentation.Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for department functions related to micro imaging.Develops, recommends, and implements improved operating procedures, forms, and work processes.Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, trains, and evaluates the work of permanent and temporary election staff involved in election programs.Improves the quality of the division's customer service by developing work teams and by reviewing, recommending, and implementing improved policies and procedures.Uses sound judgment and interpretation of policies, rules and procedures to answer inquiries, provide information, and resolve complaints from clients, the public, and/or City employees regarding the function and activities of the work unit.Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and City staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.Typical QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:Equivalent to a bachelors degree in business or public administration or a field related to the work; AND three (3) years of experience in elections operations, administrative support, or similar processes, one (1) year of which was in a supervisory role; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Reso rces.

Analyze, interpret, and explain technical reports and legal documents.Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities; typing skills.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:Under General Direction- Incumbents at this level have considerable latitude in the application of departmental policy, and they follow general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments. They are responsible for planning and organizing their own workload, but ordinarily cannot change methods of their assigned work unit, established operations, or departmental policy with elected Clerk Recorder approval.
