Primary Role
Perform a variety of complex chemical and/or microbiological testing forvarious water matrices using sophisticated analytical instrumentation.

Key Accountabilities
Perform a variety of complex sample analysis requiring analyticalexpertise in assigned technique; process samples within methodrequired holding times; prioritize, generate and interpret sampledata through detailed review; ensure data generated meets EPA andaccrediting authority standards.Provide response and follow-up to laboratory inquiries from utilitysubsidiaries, business partners and client groups within requestedtimeframe.Acts as a resource to colleagues with less experience; cross-trainswith colleagues with more experience to develop competence in allareas of lab.Identify routine and non-routine problems and perform necessaryconduct troubleshooting and maintenance of analytical equipment andprocesses as necessary to ensure continued sample analysis andoptimum instrument performance. Works with vendors and servicetechnicians to resolve issues.Provide secondary review and validation of data produced by othercolleagues with equal or lesser skill; participate in assignedpreparation for and follow-up to external and internal audits;participate in he development of standard operating procedures andassist in the development of corrective action.Evaluate and monitor supplies and other laboratory costs to assistin maintaining the lab budget.Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge and ability to operate complex analytical chemistryinstrumentation.Computer literacy (competent in use of Word and Excel, LIMS andother software as needed).Familiarity with EPA, NELAC and OSHA rulesExperience/Education
2-4 of progressively responsible environmental laboratory experiencepreferred.GC, GC/MS, HPLC, IC, ICP, ICP/MS, LC/MS or microscopy experiencepreferred.BA/BS in Chemistry, Biology or related field required.Relevant laboratory experience along with bachelor level courseworkmay be considered in lieu of completed bachelors level degree.Travel Requirements
